Course Overview

World History

 

COURSE DESCRIPTION

          The study of World History is designed to help create more background knowledge about the history of the world.  This course will help the student to understand more in depth why countries today developed the way they did.  In this course we will include the effect that other countries and peoples had on the shaping of America.

MATERIALS

     You will need notebook paper, a pen (blue or black), a red pen, dividers, and a binder every day.  Please be prepared to start class with your materials in your seat when the bell rings.  

 GRADING

     Daily grades count for 40% of the grade and major grades for 60%.  At least ten daily grades and three major grades will be given each nine weeks.

Every effort should be made to complete work on time.  A deduction of

Twenty-five points will occur for work turned in one day late, fifty points for two days late, and a zero will be recorded for an assignment that is three days late. 

 

 

MAJOR GRADES

     Students will have a test at least every three weeks to assess progress.  All students will also be required to bring and keep up with a notebook which will be a major grade every nine weeks.

ABSENCES

     If you miss class, it is your responsibility to get the assignments.  If you miss class due to a school activity get your assignments before you are absent.

DISCIPLINE

     If you create a problem in this class, I will conference with you.  Next, I will refer you to the assistant principal.  No warning is given for level two and level three offenses.

 

CLASSROOM GUIDELINES

*RESPECT-When the teacher is lecturing or another student is talking: 

STOP, LOOK, and LISTEN.

*Be on time (This means sitting in your desk already working or ready to work).

*Keep your hands off others’ property

*No food, drink, candy, gum, straws, or other chewable items.

*Be responsible

          Everyday before you leave pick up around your desk.

          Finish all assigned work

          Study for test

          Work during allotted class time

*Sit in your assigned seat and stay seated until dismissed

*Individual work time is quiet time

*Absolutely no foul language

*No cell phones
